Belmont student named Salutatorian at SCAD
Corbin Bumeter, a Belmont local and current graduating Sound Design B.F.A., student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Corbin has been named Salutatorian for this year’s 2020 graduating class. Along with his fellow graduates, Corbin will be honored during SCAD’s virtual Commencement ceremony, SCADtacular, on May 30, emceed by “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnaham and featuring Alicia Keys as speaker.
While many universities across the country are virtually celebrating commencement, SCAD’s ceremony has a special twist. SCAD graduates, their friends and family have the opportunity to upload photos, videos, quotes and more (they’ve submitted more than 50,000 pieces of content so far) to create a curated viewing page and digital yearbook special for each graduate. On commencement day, each graduate’s personalized pages will become viewing rooms where they can watch the event with family and friends. SCAD also sent special surprise packages to their graduates featuring fun celebratory SWAG to make the virtual occasion extra special from home.
As a graduate of SCAD’s School of Entertainment Arts, Corbin has gained real-world experience within the media and television industry, while having front-row access to industry luminaries through SCAD’s annual events, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and SCAD aTVfest. In addition, each department within SCAD is equipped with cutting-edge resources and critically acclaimed faculty to propel students into their dream careers, while they build their unique professional portfolios.
